COLOUR TYPE CONSULTATION

Colour Analysis - Why?

You've been there-the sweater looks terrific on your best friend, but looks terrible on you. While shopping, you pick out a t-shirt that really isn't "your" colour and are surprised to find that it really brings out your eyes. Suddenly, you don't look as pale as you did this morning, and...SOLD! We all have a certain intuition about which colours look good on us. Nevertheless, due to the many fashionable colours that entice us, and the image that we hope to create by wearing them, we are tempted over and over again to reach for the "wrong" colours. Then, before we know it, we are wearing the new item, but somehow feel a bit odd. What holds true for clothing also applies to makeup and hair colour. Our colour analysis is here to help, so that you get never that uncomfortable feeling again when "the t-shirt in the shop window the lipstick of your girlfriend/ the hair colouring on the package just looked better somehow." Harmony is the magic word for using your own colours to create a great appearance. There is no magic involved, of course. And it's online, straightforward and free!

Who?

Our colour consultation model is the work of a true expert. Beatrix Isabel Lied is an internationally known colour, style, and image consultant, as well as makeup artist and clinical cosmetician. She has run her own beauty institute in Hamburg since 1978, where she trains cosmeticians and colour and style consultants. For many years, she has also worked as a wardrobe consultant for well-known personalities in television and politics. Her life motto is "become self-aware." For her clients, this means making what is on the outside agree with what is on the inside...and harmonizing the two. Further information can be found at www.beautyislife.com.

How?

Self-awareness forms the basis of every colour consultation. In order for us to show you the colours that are best for you, we first need to know something about your own colouring-that is to say, your hair, eye, and skin colour. But first, you must promise us one thing-don't cheat! The information needed for our analysis must match your natural hair, eye and skin colour. Say you have been colouring your hair for so long that you can no longer remember your natural colour? Simply look at an old photo, or ask your mother. Then, sit in front of a mirror, completely without makeup and untanned, if possible. Sufficient daylight is just as important as is an accurate self-assessment. Try doing your analysis together with a friend or colleague; that way, you can help each other to give more accurate answers.

It depends on your features

Try this exercise: Describe a specific colour tone to a girlfriend as accurately as possible. Give her a paint box and ask her to mix the colour. It is unlikely that she will come up with the exact colour you pictured. Colours are subjective and can be difficult to remember. While there are measurements for form, there are none for colour. Colours, however, do have their own characteristics. We can differentiate between colour tones (i.e., whether a colour is somewhat light or dark) and colour types (i.e., whether it is somewhat warm or cold). But do not be put off by the term "cold;" colours do not appear "cold" to others when you are wearing them. Whether you come across as warm and sincere to others (in a human sense) totally depends upon your charisma. And this can be further enhanced by the right choice of colours!

Pigmentation- What is it?

To carry out a colour analysis, you must first enter your own "colours" as accurately as possible. This means the pigmentation of your hair, skin and eyes (i.e., the irises). But what exactly are pigments? The word "pigment" comes from the Latin word meaning dye. Pigmentation relates to the storage of pigments. Just think of an albino: the fur (or the skin and hair) are white, and the eyes are red. Pigments of any kind are absent, and the red in the eyes are blood vessels that gleam. Take a moment to get started, using a mirror in daylight. Here's a small tip: Should you have any problems with assessing yourself, think again about the paint box. For example: which colours would you mix to match your skin tone? Would you need more gold or bronze, or rather, more blue or pink? A further tip for those who already have grey hair: This does not have any bearing on your colour type. Simply go by the natural colour of your hair before it turned grey!

One last thing before getting started...

Apart from pigmentation, your choice of colours naturally reflects many other factors: age, social environment (e.g., profession) and, most of all, your own taste. You do not need to ignore these factors. If sky blue suits you, but you don't like to wear it...so what? Colour analysis is not a dogma. We will give you the colours that suit your type, and from these you can choose your favourites!
